Pixels to CM Converter
Convert pixel dimensions into centimetres at the density you are working to, and back again. The same arithmetic turns a single pixel to cm, or a whole image width into a finished print size in centimetres.
Type in either field — the other one follows instantly.
How to convert pixels to centimetres
Divide by the density and multiply by 2.54: cm = (pixels ÷ PPI) × 2.54. An inch is exactly 2.54 centimetres, so the conversion is exact.
At 300 DPI one centimetre holds 118.11 pixels. At the 96 PPI screen standard it holds 37.795. That ratio is the whole reason the same image can be described as both 21 cm wide and 2480 pixels wide.
Worked with the values in the calculator above
cm = 2,480 px ÷ 300 PPI × 2.54 = 21 cm
pixels = 21 cm ÷ 2.54 × 300 PPI = 2,480 px Working in centimetres
Most photo labs outside North America quote print sizes in centimetres — 10 × 15 cm rather than 4 × 6 inches, 20 × 30 cm rather than 8 × 12. Converting your pixel dimensions into centimetres first makes it obvious which standard size a file will fill without cropping.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a pixel to cm?
Divide 1 by the density to get inches, then multiply by 2.54. One pixel is 0.0265 cm at 96 PPI and 0.0085 cm at 300 DPI.
How many pixels are in a centimetre?
At 300 DPI a centimetre is 118.11 pixels. At 96 PPI it is 37.795 pixels, and at 72 PPI it is 28.346.
Why is 2.54 exact rather than rounded?
Because the inch is defined from the metre, not measured against it. Since 1 July 1959 the yard has been exactly 0.9144 m by international agreement, which makes the inch exactly 25.4 mm. cm = (pixels ÷ PPI) × 2.54 has no rounding in it; the only approximation is the density you pick.
How many centimetres is 1920 pixels?
1920 pixels is 50.8 cm at 96 PPI, 32.51 cm at 150 DPI and 16.26 cm at 300 DPI.
Is a pixel a fixed number of centimetres?
No. A pixel only acquires a physical size once you fix a pixel density, which is why every conversion here asks for a DPI value.
