Privacy policy

Last updated: 10 September 2026

This site has no analytics, sets no cookies and makes no network request while you use it. The numbers you type, and any image you open in the DPI checker, never leave your device. There is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing collecting anything.

What was checked, and what was found

Rather than describe data practices in the abstract, here is the actual state of the code behind this site. Each row is a thing that was looked for by name.

The calculators

Every conversion is arithmetic performed in your browser. Pixel values, image dimensions, DPI settings, screen sizes and results are held in the page and discarded when you close the tab. None of it is transmitted, logged or stored, and no record of what you converted exists anywhere.

Images you open in the DPI checker

The DPI checker asks you to drop in an image, which sounds like an upload and is not one. The file is read directly from your disk by the browser: its bytes are parsed in the page to find the density tag, and the picture itself is displayed from a temporary in-memory reference that is released as soon as it has been read. The file is never sent to this site or anywhere else. There is no server that could receive it — the whole site is static files.

What stays on your device

One thing: your light/dark theme preference, saved in your browser's localStorage under the key p2i-theme. It never leaves your device, it is not an identifier, and clearing site data removes it. This is the only browser storage the site uses.

Shared links

The “Copy link” button builds a URL containing the values currently in the calculator and updates your address bar without loading anything. Those values stay in your browser unless you choose to share the link. If you do share it and someone opens it, that URL — including the values in it — will appear in the host's ordinary server log, in the same way any web address does. Do not use it to share anything you would not put in a link.

The contact form

The contact form does not submit anywhere. It composes a message in your own email application, addressed to hello@pixelstoinches.com, and nothing is sent until you press send there. No third-party form service is involved at any point, and nothing you type into the form is stored by this site.

Whatever you do send arrives as an ordinary email. It is used only to answer you and to fix whatever you reported, it is not added to any mailing list, and it is kept only as long as the correspondence is live. Ask and it will be deleted.

Hosting and server logs

The site is built as static files and served by Vercel. Like any web host, Vercel records standard technical information about requests — IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamp — for delivery, security and abuse prevention. That logging is the host's, is not configured or read for any analytics purpose here, and is never combined with anything else or used to identify anyone. Their handling of it is covered by Vercel's own privacy policy.

Google Fonts

Two typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. Because your browser fetches the font files directly, Google receives your IP address and user agent as part of serving them. This is the only third-party connection any page makes, and it carries nothing about what you were converting. If that connection matters to you, a content blocker will stop it and the site will fall back to your system fonts and keep working normally.

Children

This is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children. As set out above, no personal data is collected from anyone, of any age.

Your rights

Rights of access, correction, erasure and portability all apply to personal data that is held. Nothing on this site holds any, so in practice the only thing that can exist is an email you chose to send. If you have written and want that correspondence deleted, ask at hello@pixelstoinches.com and it will be removed.

Changes to this policy

If the site ever gains something this page says it does not have — analytics, a cookie, a form that posts to a server — this page changes first, with a new revision date at the top. A policy that no longer matches the code is the failure mode this page exists to avoid.
