Pixels to Inches Chart

Three charts covering the values people look up most, already worked out: pixel counts to inches and centimetres, inches back to pixels, and the standard pixel dimensions that have a name.

How to read the charts

Find your pixel value in the first column of the first chart, then read across to the density you are working to. The result is the physical size, in inches and — in the last column — in centimetres at print resolution.

The second chart runs the other way, from inches to pixels, for when you know the finished size and need the pixel count to work to. The arithmetic is symmetrical: one divides by the density, the other multiplies by it.

The third lists the pixel dimensions that have a name, from 1920 x 1080 to A4 at 300 DPI, with what each one measures on screen and in print.

Frequently asked questions

How many inches is 1080 pixels?

11.25 inches at 96 PPI, 7.2 inches at 150 DPI and 3.6 inches at 300 DPI.

How many inches is 1920 pixels?

20 inches at 96 PPI, 12.8 inches at 150 DPI and 6.4 inches at 300 DPI.

How do I use a pixels to inches chart?

Find the pixel value in the left column and read across to your density. Every figure is simply pixels divided by that density.

What are the standard pixel sizes?

The common ones are 1280 x 720 for HD, 1920 x 1080 for Full HD, 2560 x 1440 for QHD and 3840 x 2160 for 4K. For print at 300 DPI, A4 is 2480 x 3508 pixels and US Letter is 2550 x 3300. The third table above lists each one with its size in inches.
